What Sam does at 5am

A traffic light your two-year-old already understands.

No numbers to read. The face and the colour of the screen do all the talking, and the wait becomes something a child can see shrinking.

7:00 pm · Bedtime

Eyes close. Screen goes red.

Eyes shut on their own at the bedtime you set. The red nightlight can stay on all night or switch itself off.

6:30 am · The last 30 minutes

Twelve stars count down.

One star goes out every two and a half minutes. The child watches the wait get shorter instead of calling out.

7:00 am · Wake time

Eyes open. Screen goes green.

Okay to get up. For school-age kids the sound alarm is set separately, so the sleep trainer grows into an alarm clock.

Questions

Asked at 5am, answered here.

What does a sleep trainer clock help teach?

It helps children understand the difference between sleep time and wake-up time using clear visual cues.

Is it also a nightlight?

Yes. The product description highlights a built-in nightlight for extra comfort overnight.

Who is this best suited to?

It is ideal for toddlers and young children who wake early or are learning independent sleep routines.

What age is it for?

From about two, when a child can follow a simple rule like waiting for the green light, up to school age as an alarm clock.

Does it work for daytime naps?

Yes. The sleep timer runs from 3 to 180 minutes, separately from the night-time wake-up, so a nap can end after 90 minutes without changing the morning setting.

If I change the settings after bedtime, will it stay green until tomorrow?

Changing the wake-up time after bedtime can leave the clock in the wake state until the next cycle. Set the wake-up time before bedtime. If you need it back asleep for the rest of the night, use the sleep timer for the remaining minutes.

Can the nightlight stay on all night?

Yes. The red nightlight can stay lit all night or switch off automatically. Red is used because it disturbs sleep less than white or blue light.

Batteries or plug?

Either. A USB cable is included, and it also runs on four AA batteries, which are not included, so it works on holiday without a spare socket.
